My favorite part of fandom is going to conventions. Nothing beats getting to hang out with fellow geeks, talk to the actors and actresses whose work I admire, and forget about mundane life for a while. Shore Leave 31 was held at the Hunt Valley Marriott on July 10-12, and it didn’t disappoint. With headliners such as Robert Picardo, Ethan Phillips, Miracle Laurie, Jason Mamoa, Rachel Luttrell, and Christopher Heyerdahl, I spent most of the weekend in the main ballroom watching the actors’ Q&A sessions. In episode 1 of the podcast, Steve Guminski, John Broughton, and Mark Hildebrand discuss the Open House event at the new Farragut Films studio in St. Marys, Georgia. The discussion features interviews with a few Star Trek fans who first learned about Starship Farragut at the Open House. The event was a great success, attracting several hundred curious attendees throughout the day.
